The Name of the Game
It’s true what they say; they more you learn, the less you know. As I forge onward in my quest to stake a claim in the entertainment industry, I’ve found some of the best opportunities are the one’s I never expected. The weekend before Halloween I booked a job in 6 hours (only my second time with such a quick turnaround). This job wasn’t from the regular sources such as Actor’s Access, or Casting Networks. No, this very real and wonderful job came through a friendly suggestion and a comment on a post. I drove up and away from the ocean late one night to a Haunted House. I was handed a talent agreement, a costume, a script, and placed on my mark in front of the camera. I really don’t know how these things happen, but it was one of the friendliest, spookiest, and professional short films I’ve been a part of. If you’re reading this blog today because you’re an actor and have been seeing my audition posts and modeling photos, take this one piece of advice: REACH FAR, REACH EVERYWHERE, KEEP TALKING, KEEP SHOWING UP.
The first Halloween party after covid was a rager.
The first Halloween party after covid made me laugher deeper.
The first Halloween party after covid gave me hope.
From sitting on the couch with an entire bag of kitkats in 2020, to being surrounded by friends, home baked mac n’ cheese, and music in 2021. I drank to all the days I thought I’d never feel like that again. Whether your Halloween was a quiet, scary movie marathon, or a never ending night, I hope you felt the same joyous relief I felt in knowing that good times have returned.
If all goes to plan, December’s blog will be the length of a novella. There are about 10 things hanging in the air and I just have to wait a few weeks for one or more of them to fall into my hands. Until then, I won’t go writing empty promises.
