Secrets Spilled
No in fact Taylor Swift is not the only artist to drop hints. You, favorite reader, who took the time to click the link, get all the goods before the gram.
Since I last left the page I had just returned to film after focusing on music in Germany and making the long trek through the “lost year”. Wherever my career takes me in the next five years I will always remember The Gilded Age set like a breath of fresh air…no better yet the smell of fresh baked bread hiding just out of frame while my kitchen maids and I laugh in our big, fat, dresses.
FILMING WITH OLD FRIENDS
Since those weeks I’ve wrapped on my first music video shot in New Jersey. Serendipitously, the first director to give me a speaking role in film also became my first music video director six years later! It was such a fun blast from the past as we caught up on what we’ve been up to since college. We ate some bagels, used up all the liquid in the fog machine, and raced to get the perfect shot before I froze solid outside in my crop top at night. Now we’re waiting for that rough cut to come through so I can share more behind-the-scenes before the release!
A couple weekends after that saw me filming for the upcoming short “Love Without Loss”. For the first time this year I didn’t have to grit my teeth and act my way through the cold because spring arrived! The cast and crew filmed on a pond in 70 degree weather. The only hiccup was trying to get a take before the geese started honking at the swans. With the outdoor location for the first two days, we could all safely distance ourselves during lunch. If you strolled past set last Saturday you would have seen an image we could only dream of in 2020, a bunch of people hanging out on the lawn, laughing with strangers, and making art. (safety protocols observed, masks worn, most of crew and cast vaccinated) It felt like a turning point. It felt like spring.
THE SECOND CHARITY ALBUM
I took a needed break from releasing and promoting music this winter. To be honest with you select blog readers, some personal events have occurred that have made it difficult to write for myself. Songs are short, and there is too much in my mind to condense it into a verse.
While I’ve paused my own music, I have gotten the opportunity to write for some outstanding projects in the last few months.
April 30th the HUMANITY IS THE GENRE album drops including a new original song I wrote and produced by Greg Zola! Proceeds from the album go to Haven Studios in Chicago through Guitars Over Guns, a non-profit giving students access to music education! Released by Electric Train Records , and distributed through The Orchard , this compilation features songs from the poetic Janet Henriques, the chicago favs Blaqrock, Yin Waster, and more.
Freddie Bell, President of Electric Train Records helped pull this together and simply put “I was sick and tired of the division. I wanted to create something that brought us all together.”
